	1,000 Places to See Before You Die by Patricia Schultz Recommended by MaryKay M. This is a 972 page book full of ideas on where to go on your next vacation. It features both popular and off the beaten path places everywhere in the world. It also includes addresses, phone numbers, when to visit, and web sites.



	The Lost Painting by Jonathan Harr Recommended by Shirley F. This book is about the search for and finding a lost Caravaggio masterpiece painting. If you have an interest in Italian art and love a good mystery this books reads like a good thriller.


Charms for an Easy Life By Kaye Gibbons Recommended by Kristin T. This is a story of a girl growing into a woman and her life with her fluttery mother and grandmother. Kristin says when she finished reading this book she started over and read it again.



The Divide By Nicholas Evans Recommended by Jacki M. How did Abby, a girl with a promising future from New York wind up dead in the snow covered mountains of Montana. This story is about mystery, tragedy and romance.

Dream When You are Feeling Blue By Elizabeth Berg Recommended by Jacki M. Two sisters say goodbye to their boyfriends who go off to WWII to fight. Berg writes a nostalgic tale of wartime romance, love, war, sacrifice and resilience.





	City of Falling Angels by John Berendt Recommended by Shirley F. The book tells the story about the investigation, the arson trial, and rebuilding of the opera house in Venice after a devastating fire. Rich in eccentric characters, the book gives a fascinating insight to the people of Venice. Persian Girls By Nahia Rachlin Recommended by Carol R. This is a story about two sisters. The author writes this memoir about her life and her sister's life. One sister escapes Iran and goes to America where she enjoys freedom and the other remains confined to suffering in Iran. This story tugs at the heart as two sisters have different lives.

This book is the story of two young Chinese girls who are matched to be forever friends when they are getting ready to have their feet bound. It is a wonderful story of Chinese culture and true friendship.

Crossing to Safety
